The Clementine R. Welchsampler is absolutely charming. She was eight years old when she embroidered her alphabets, verse and motifs. Pretty in pink flowers and strawberries embellish this delightful sampler. A fruit basket and 8-point star adds to the fun. Clemonteen embroidered the beginning of the poemThe Rose Budby William Broome, English (1689-1745). Our sampler maker was the oldest daughter of Aaron and Clarissa Drake Welch. She was born in July of 1832, in Huntsville, Logan County, Ohio, United States of America. More of her story in the chart pack.
